A Double Birthday!

Today is Jimmy’s fifth birthday!

1 day old

And while his birth into our family on November 19, 2003, was beyond wonderful, nothing can compare to the joy we all felt on November 13, 2008, when Jimmy asked Jesus to be his Savior!

Two birthdays in one week.  Priceless!

Jimmy and Fiorina

Happy Birthday, Darcy!!

How did this happen?

Our first baby–the little girl who first made us a Mommy and Daddy–just turned 21!!  Since the first moment we laid eyes on her, and every moment since, she has been a joy and a delight!  Her sweet spirit and stubborn determination have combined to make her a force to be reckoned with.  Her love for the Lord and her desire to serve him have clearly become the guiding force of her life…and as parents, we could not ask for anything better than that!  We can hardly wait to see what the Lord has for her in the days and years ahead.

Now for a little stroll down memory lane with our "dark beauty"….

One more November Birthday!!!

Amazing….my last baby girl is 17!  How on earth did she I get to be so old??

Quiet, deep, thoughtful and…..crazy!  That’s our Nina.  Just when you think you’ve got her pegged, you see a side of her that you didn’t know was there.  Give her a stage and she comes to life!  Turn on the music and watch her dance!  Creative and wonderfully crazy…that’s our Nina.

Today, Nina is 17.
Happy Birthday, Sweet Girl!  We love you!

My Little Girl is 19!

November is a crazy month for our family.  My husband’s birthday is in November and three of our children were born in November.  Little Guy celebrated his last week.  This week Janna and Nina both celebrate theirs.  First Janna though….

Nineteen years ago, on the day after Thanksgiving, our second baby girl was born.  She has filled our home with laughter since the beginning.  She’s always been an imp.

At 2, after being scolded by her daddy, she announced, "Well, Thumper’s father says, ‘If you can’t say something nice, don’t say nothin’ at all!’"

At about 4, as we were getting ready for church she announced, "I don’t have to go to church.  I already know TONS about God."

At about 5, during an evening meltdown, she yelled, "It’s because you gave me all that sugar!"…and several moments later, "I don’t think I like living here anymore!"

Well, she has matured considerably, and personally, I hope she keeps living here for a very long time!!

Happy Birthday, Janna!

The Little Guy Turns 4!

Four years ago today, the Lord brought about a miracle in our lives.  He gave us a gift that we would never have dreamed of choosing for ourselves.  When we would have chosen to grow old, He gave us someone to keep us young.  When we would have chosen to relax, He decided to keep us running.  When we would have chosen peace and quiet, He gave us noise…lots of noise!  And when we would have been willing to wait for grandsons, He gave us a son!

So with hearts filled with gratitude to God for His amazing gift to our family, we say,

"Happy Birthday, Sweet Boy!"

A Tribute to my Mom on her Birthday…

"My mother was the most beautiful woman I ever saw. All I am I owe to my mother. I attribute all my success in life to the moral, intellectual and physical education I received from her."
— George Washington (1732-1799)

"The mother’s heart is the child’s schoolroom."
— Henry Ward Beecher

"Education commences at the mother’s knee, and every word spoken within hearsay of little children tends toward the formation of character."
— Hosea Ballou

"I remember my mother’s prayers and they have always followed me. They have clung to me all my life."
— Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865)

I had the amazing privilege of being raised in a home with a mother who loved the Lord and who lived out her love for Him in every area of her life.  She loved, she sacrificed, she instilled, she instructed, she challenged, and she prayed.  As children we felt loved, appreciated and protected.  We laughed with her, cried to her, leaned on her, and learned from her.  I owe her a debt of gratitude for her commitment to the Lord and acknowledge that EVERYTHING I am today is because of her.

So today on my mother’s 71st birthday, I celebrate her life by honoring the influence that she has had in my life.

"Thanks, Mom.  I love you!"
