Photo Hunter: Heavy

This week’s theme is Heavy.  

I’ve got two very different takes on the theme this week. 

The first picture is of a very HEAVY pumpkin all loaded up and ready to go to the Topsfield Fair.  For East Coast Pumpkin growers, winning at Topsfield is what it’s all about!  In 2003, the year this picture was taken, the winning pumpkin was 1301 pounds.  This pumpkin, third place at Topsfield and grown by our friend in Deering, NH, was 1121 pounds.

My second picture needs only a song…

"He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother!"

This week’s theme is Narrow.  

These pictures were taken on the same narrow road in Deering, NH.  The first picture was taken after a brief snowfall in mid-October. The second was taken 4 months, and 3 feet of snow, later!

This week’s theme is LIGHT.

I have LOTS of “light” pictures I love so I picked a couple of them.  One of the things I love about Christmas is candles, so the first picture is one I took last Christmas on my kitchen table.

The second picture was taken of a favorite Christmas ornament…and just happens to be a shameless plug for our favorite hockey team, too!  (Go Hawks!!) I love the light in this picture!

for this I decided to focus on the most important small baby ever born.

One small child in a land of a thousand
One small dream of a Savior tonight
One small hand reaching out to the starlight
One small city of life

One king bringing his gold and his riches
One king ruling an army of might
One king kneeling with incense and candlelight
One King bringing us life

See him lying, a cradle beneath him
See him smiling in the stall
See his mother praising his father
See his tiny eyelids fall

One small light from the flame of a candle
one small light from a city of might
one small light from the stars in the endless night
one small light from a face

See the shepherds kneeling before him
See the kings on bended knee
See his mother praising his Father
See the Blessed Infant sleep.

One small child in a land of a thousand
One small dream in a people of might
One small hand reaching out to the starlight
One small Savior of life.
