Have you Discovered Pinterest?

Does anyone besides me engage in the daily, “Oh dear, what on earth am I going to make for dinner” battle? I have NEVER been a good meal planner. I rarely know at 9 am what I’ll be making for dinner in the evening. That’s me. Planning meals bores me.  Does that make me a bad person?

Several months ago, my daughters introduced me to Pinterest and all the sudden I have a new lease on life. Well…maybe that’s just a bit over-the-top, but the truth is, Pinterest HAS become my new favorite cookbook. My “Dinnspiration” pin-board now holds all those awesome looking recipes I’ve found online that just have “must try” written all over them. Here’s a few of the recipes I’ve discovered and tried over the last several months:

Hungry yet?

But it’s not just the food I love on Pinterest! I’ve also found some awesome craft ideas (we’ve tried a few of those too!), home decorating ideas, outdoor gardening ideas, and much more! And following my daughter’s pinboards has given me FANTASTIC Christmas gift ideas!

So, have you discovered Pinterest? If you need an invite, let me know!

  1. OK, so I “joined” Pinterest a few months ago…BUT, I have no idea how to use it! And I wasn’t sure it was worth it to take the hit on my time for the learning curve. But you’ve made it sound awfully appealing. I suppose I should try to figure it out. It can’t be that difficult, right?? If you have any pointers or know where there’s a tutorial, kindly point me in that direction! :-)

    • Kathleen, the best way that I’ve found that doesn’t cost me TONS of time is to spend a few minutes a day looking through my pinterest “feed”. That’s all the recent pins from the boards you follow. If you don’t follow any boards, you won’t have a “feed”. Warning…don’t follow a person which will automatically follow ALL of their boards. Instead, click on the person’s name (link) and follow only the boards you’re interested in following, otherwise it can get quite overwhelming! I also periodically, click the “everything” link to view the feed from ALL pinners! But be careful…all pinners definitely won’t share your values!! LOL! Let me know if you need more help! :-)

  2. I am loving Pinterest, too. I have also tried several food ideas and storage and organization solutions. What a wealth of resources is available when all of us pool our research together and share it with one another like this! I love it, but it can be a little addicting. I will check out your Dinnspiration board, for sure. If you’re at all nerdy like me, you might want to pay a visit to my math and science humor board. It’s my favorite. Note: My Pinterest account is under a different name–Rose O’Sharon (it’s a looong story).

  3. I’m currently on the waiting list for an invite. Not sure how long said “waiting list” is at the moment. But if you have an invite, I would “pininterested” in getting one from you!

    Thanks!!

  4. I have been on the waiting list for 2 weeks already. I have no idea of how long it takes to get an invite but I do can’t wait. :) I have at least 10 ideas of what to fill my page with. I can tell once I am in, it will keep me pinning 24/7…already downloaded the iPhone app, too. When I do get my invite, I will follow you…how else am I going to surprise my hubby & kids w/new dinners/recipes?! ;p

  5. Hi Lani, I have just sent you an invite! I hope it helps you get in quicker!! And I’ll certainly follow you back when you finally get pinning!!! Let me know when you’re “in”!!

  10. Hi – I’m not sure if you have a limited number of invites available, but I sure would love to be one of them. I’ve been waiting for almost a week to get one, and I am chomping at the bit to start using the site!

  11. Linda,
Found your site while researching Pinterest which seems to be my wife’s new favorite past time. She has been patiently waiting for her invite request to be granted. If you have any invites left, I would really appreciate one to 1. Bug my wife that i already am a member, and 2. I think it a pretty slick site now that I have read your comments and visited myself.
    Thanks,
    T.
Ps. I will “eventually” give her an invite.
    Pps. Great site.
